Christian Benteke's close range header during the added time rescued a point for the Reds at Anfield. Eden Hazard gave the visitors the lead earlier in the first half with a superb strike but the blues was forced to share the points equally as Benteke strikes late to level up the match as it ended 1-1. However, Liverpool who defeated Chelsea in the first leg with a 3-1 win at the stamford bridge failed to beat them again at home.
