Real Madrid continued their title race after beating valencia 3-2 at the santiago Bernabeu. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring with a lovely finish from outside the 18 yard box while Karim Benzema tapped in from a close range to make it double for the hosts. Valencia responded with a strike from Rodrigo before Cristiano Ronaldo struck again. Valencia cut short the goals again as Andre Gomes found the back of the net with a breathtaking strike to heap more pressure on the hosts in the 80th minute. Real Madrid have now overtaken Atletico Madrid who lost to Levante.
