Chile defeated the Albicelestes of Argentina to win the COPA America for the second time in two years through penalty kicks that ended 4-2 to their favour. The match saw two players being sent off in the first half ; M. Diaz for Chile and Marcos Rojo for Argentina. It ended all square after 120 minutes of intense football in the midst of 82k spectators in ML stadium New Jersey. Lionel Messi and Lucas Biglia's penalty misses saw Chile win the Copa Centenario 2016.Chile is now the second team to win the COPA America in two successive years after Argentina did it in 1946 & 1947.
